Spoor & Fisher partners counted among the world’s leading patent professionals
Patents form one of the fundamental pillars of the Spoor & Fisher practice – and it is no small accolade to have no fewer than nine of its partners receiving specific mention in the latest edition of IAM Patent 1000 2016 – The World’s Leading Patent Professionals.
In the publication, Hugh Moubray is described as “formidable”, with an “intuitive understanding of even the most complex technologies” while Jonathan Whittaker is a “grandee litigator” and a “master of strategy and presentation in the Southern African region. Dina Biagio’s abilities as a dealmaker are highlighted and it said that she “brings rigour and natural flair to licensing and joint development arrangements”. John McKnight earns mention as “an exceptional drafter” who “really understands the needs of clients” and the firm’s most senior practitioner Keith Brown is “highly regarded in prosecution circles”. Chemistry lead Mark Kemp “stands head and shoulders above his competitors” while his colleague David Cochrane has “specialist experience in plant breeders’ rights” in addition to being “a high achiever across the wider life sciences”. Lance Abramson and Lodewyk Cilliers are described as “engineering aces”, with the former being praised as a “meticulous drafter” while the latter has “an excellent ability to grasp the concept of an invention”.
In order to be listed in the IAM Patent 1000 a practitioner must receive substantial positive feedback from multiple sources during the research process. Spoor & Fisher is proud to have these outstanding practitioners on its Patents team.
