Domestic trade mark registration, searches and renewals, domestic and international trade mark litigation, domestic and international copyright, as well as the registration of cinematograph films, entertainment law, media law, advertising objections, unlawful competition, passing off, company name objections and domain name disputes. Owen specialises in trade mark litigation, copyright law, competition law and entertainment and media law. He consults to and acts for various local and international listed companies. Owen is an expert in the field of anti-counterfeiting and was instrumental in writing the SA Counterfeit Goods Act.

Dr Dean was awarded the LexisNexis Butterworths’ Prize for the best article by a legal practitioner published in De Rebus in 2006. Owen is a popular choice to lecture on IP law.
